Today, we celebrated and worshipped in true Rwandan style--lots of singing, dancing, and praising the Lord! Patty preached a powerful message about the importance of "Pray for One," which was very well received! We also witnessed four people, including a recovering alcoholic and a woman who has had two children out of wedlock, accept Jesus as their savior. Patrick led the congregation in prayer for them! Service ended with a woman who came up to tell us about God's power in saving her life and that of her son during a rough delivery. It was a powerful, joyful, uplifting service!
After the service, we enjoyed lunch with Pastor Elie and other members of the church. The food they prepare, a simple meal of rice, beans, cabbage, and meat, tastes better than many restaurants!
The big plan for the afternoon was to set up the movie Shaun the Sheep for the children to watch in the church, with drinks, a snack, and a small toy. Before starting, we had time to gather outside with the kids and pass out some jump ropes (I cut them from a clothesline I brought from home for when/if I washed some clothes), and do silly songs, like "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" and "The Hokey Pokey."
The kids had a blast during the movie! Patrick and some men from the church set it all up. Becca and I hung out and took pictures with some of the kids (they love being in pictures and then looking at them!) before it was time to pass out drinks, snacks, and toys. It got a little chaotic, but much fun was had by all!
It was a busy, busy day, but there was so much blessed fellowship in it. May it be so for all of you!
God bless,
Vili
