Today was another beautiful day in Rwanda. Eager to begin our English teaching, we traveled to a small village called, Rubengera. Driving on the winding roads, around the many hills, we took in the most incredible views. Upon arriving in Rubengera,at the Restoration Church, my heart was filled with so much joy...I met my friends from last year’s class. The smiles and hugs were amazing...a long awaited feel good moment! I was thankful to see them again and happy to find that they’ve been practicing their English and have improved their skills.
Karen, Tyler and our very sweet translator, Oliver, taught an intermediate group of pastors and community trainers, while Rachel, Kassandra and I worked with a large group of beginning English learners. Our students enjoyed their time today, they learned much and became very comfortable with us and with each other. They expressed many reasons why it’s so important for them to learn English and it’s very impressive to witness their intense desire to learn. The people here work so hard and appreciate the efforts of all our teams. It’s very heartwarming to laugh, share and enjoy each other’s company as we all learn. We thank God for this time here with our friends.
We are looking forward to more time spent in Rubengera....tomorrow is market day! Our class will have a field trip to learn some English while experiencing life in the village. Can’t wait to tell you more!
Love and blessings to all, from team Icyizere...
