As our week here is coming to a close you may, by this point, might even be a little tired of hearing us blog/ talk/ post about Compassion and the Dominican Republic.
We get it. We really do. Extreme poverty is heavy, and it is overwhelming.
It feels so big. So widespread. So endless, as far as the eye can see. No matter how many people you try to help, there will always be a line out the door. No matter how many kids get sponsored, there will always be one more.
How do we even make sense of it all?
The simple answer? We can’t.
But that shouldn’t be an excuse to turn away.
This week we were not simply observing someone else’s struggle, We were living it.
When poverty has a face and a name, it changes every thing. It makes it real, and once it is real, we can’t ignore it. If everyone could see what we’ve seen this week, there would be a waiting list to sponsor these kids. Not the other way around.
If we have learned anything this week, it is that while we can’t help every child, we can make a difference to the ONE right in front of us.
We can see that ONE.
We can let them know that they are precious and loved, and they matter, to us and to God.
Your continued prayers are appreciated as we travel tomorrow back to New Hampshire. Doing our best to bring the 90+ degrees with us.

Hola, as Sue said. She put it perfectly. Many people say "why do you have to go to the Dominican Republic to help others?" The truth of the matter is we also help others in our own country but under God we are all brothers and sisters. He calls us to go and preach the good news ALL over the world. It is an amazing experience and a blessing to serve. I have been so blessed by people in other countries. We go with sadness and appreciation for all God has done this week. See you all soon! ~Tina
