After the worship service was over we moved to the inner courtyard and class rooms to spend time playing with all of the children. The Hula Hoop game (2 teams must join hands and pass hoop from one end of the line to the other without hands) was a huge hit with the kids ! As with the other project we visited the balloon animals and hats were a favorite of all the kids, We also found that our compassion team had many hidden talents of which ballon art was one ! We had a great time playing with the kids until it was time for them to go with many hugs and smiles we said our goodbyes.
We then had lunch with the project staff the pastor and our Compassion team. The food was wonderful and we had many wonderful conversations with our translators helping us get to know our new brothers and sisters. After enjoying our lunch we presented the project with some small gifts as tokens of our appreciation for having hosted us. We then prayed for the staff and team and they in turn prayed for us and and all of you back home at MCC.
On the bus ride home we stopped at a local store and shopped in preparation of "Fun Day" (swimming, VolleyBall, Cook out, etc) tomorrow at our hotel. Many of the MCC team have sponsored children and will get to spend 1 on 1 time with them tomorrow at our hotel. In preparation many gifts and supplies were purchased. Each sponsor will also have a translator assigned to them so that they can make the most of time they have with their children. After we completed shopping we were all treated to ice cream by our team leaders Scott and Michelle.
We ended our day with a group dinner with our Compassion team at a restaurant in Old Town Santa Domingo. The location was great and the food was awesome ! It was great to spend time with our Compassion team breaking bread and sharing thoughts and stories. What a great team to serve the Lord with. It was then back to the hotel and nightly devotions before getting some needed rest as we prepare for "Fun Day" tomorrow at the hotel !
Praying for one,
